You’ll Have To Arrest Me
The Governor of Virginia, bless his heart, has issued yet another “temporary” extension to his Executive Order regarding COVID-19.
“All public and private in-person gatherings of more than 25 individuals are prohibited. A ‘gathering’ includes, but is not limited to, parties, celebrations, or other social events, whether they occur indoors or outdoors.”
Nope. Not gonna do it.
I plan on disobeying this order enthusiastically and as often as I can. Virginia, if you want to come onto my private property and count the number of my guests, then you better have a court order and a warrant ready.
I will fight this to my dying breath. Stay the *ll off my lawn.
I value freedom. Not just my freedom, but your freedom, too. I value it because it’s what makes civil life possible.
The biggest freedom we have is the freedom to be left alone to pursue our own lives. That is that essence of the Declaration of Independence statement that people are “endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.”
We institute government to protect our ability to express our rights. Government is a good thing when it is properly doing its job. But like a fire, government that steps out of bounds does the exact opposite, it destroys.
